Description : This course is entirely in English (not recommended for students having reached level 4 with only 10-11/20 at level 3) Cultural and historical background: WW2, the Cold War, decolonisation in South-East Asia Technical objectives: illustrate and apply concepts of narrative analysis such as chronology and rhythm, voice and focus, homo- vs. hetero-diegetic narration ; intertextual references etc. to the genre of espionage novel Corpus: extracts from Eric Ambler (Passage of Arms) Graham Greene (The Quiet American) John Le Carré (The Secret Pilgrim) Reading in full at least one of these 3 novel is recommended
